Barbecues and music festivals for the adults and camp and swimming for the children. Warmer weather and holidays for everyone. That’s what’s summer is all about.

During August if you happen to be around Kettlewell, York, visit the Scarecrow Festival where local people create and display more than 100 life-size scarecrows. On the 24th of the month, St. Bartholomew’s Bun Race takes place at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital near the chapel in Sandwich. On St. Batholomew’s Day, each participating child receives a currant bun and the grown-ups get a St. Bart’s Biscuit. Also, this month, the Faversham International Hop Festival celebrates the hop harvest when Londoners would visit Kent for a working holiday. Also, the Summer Bank Holiday falls on Aug. 29.

On the first Monday after the fourth of September, the Horn Dance is performed in Abbots Bromley in Staffordshire. Six men wearing reindeer horns follow a 10-mile course performing the ritual at 12 different spots around the village with musicians playing songs like “The Farmers Boy” and “Uncle Mick” on a melodeon and a triangle.

If you are looking for a few spine tingling chills, read In a Nutshell to discover some of the many haunted spots in Europe. Keep reading to learn how to keep your laptop safe. Go to Treehouse Games to unscramble summer, then stop by Treehouse Trivia to learn how Einstein developed his theories while working as a patent office clerk.

It’s summertime and living is easy, however, there’s one area in which we at PineCone Research cannot relax. We want to enlist your assistance in maintaining our security. While everyone likes to discuss what’s going on in their lives, talking about your work with PineCone can quickly become a security issue. To avoid this, please limit your survey and product testing experiences to your household. This includes posting information like our registration link in Internet chat rooms or on message boards. We appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Can’t access a survey? Getting unusual messages? We want you to know that we are on top of things. Our new browser identification system allows us to compile information about your browser and computer before you take a survey that will help us troubleshoot problems and design new surveys to take advantage of your computer’s specifications.

And if you have a question, problem or a comment of any kind to make – about the research you participate in or our newsletter, you can let us know what you think by e-mailing me at Scott@PineConeResearch.co.uk.
